The Alliance of AIDS Services-Carolina is pleased to announce Evening with Friends.  Since 1995, Evening with Friends has raised over $1.5 Million; all of which goes directly to support those living with HIV/AIDS in the Triangle through direct client services, housing, financial assistance, prevention education programs, advocacy, and faith ministries.

Sheryl Lee Ralph 

The Diva Foundation is a national not-for-profit 501C(3) charitable organization that was founded by Sheryl Lee Ralph, in 1990, as a memorial to the many friends she had lost to HIV/AIDS. The organization focuses on generating resources and coordinating activities to create awareness of and combat against HIV/AIDS. The DIVA Foundation utilizes music and entertainment as a vehicle to inform, educate and erase the stigma attached to this deadly disease.

Our awareness campaign has grown to include: town hall meetings, prevention seminars, free HIV testing, HIV/AIDS counseling, free healthcare materials, and of course, the annual DIVAS Simply Singing! benefit concert. Miss Ralph has recorded a series of HIV awareness PSAs for grass roots organizations in need of assistance.

The Lives, Loves and Losses of Women with AIDS written and performed by Sheryl Lee Ralph, this complex and thought provoking show was inspired by the real life stories of women infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.

When initially presented on December 3, 2005 at the National Black Women and HIV/AIDS Conference in Los Angeles, the show was met with the most extraordinary out pouring of love and acceptance.

Gloria Loring

A consummate singer and entertainer, Gloria Loring is the recording artist of the #1 hit song Friends and Lovers; co-composer of television theme songs for Diff’rent Strokes and Facts Of Life; an audience favorite from daytime TV’s Days Of Our Lives; spokesperson for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation; author of four books, including her new release, Living With Type 2 Diabetes: Moving Past the Fear; inspirational speaker; and one of the few artists to sing two nominated songs at the Academy Awards. Gloria Loring’s energy, commitment and joy are absolutely contagious.

With nine albums to her credit, Loring has performed in concert all over North America and Australia. Her performances prompt reviews from critics, such as the one written by Don Heckman of the Los Angeles Times, “She told stories with the panache of Lena Horne, sang torch songs like Judy Garland, and scatted with the rhythmic thrust of a young Ella Fitzgerald. She did all of this with one of the best vocal instruments in pop music since the salad days of Barbra Streisand.” Gloria has shared the stage with George Carlin, Billy Crystal, Bill Cosby and Al Jarreau. She’s starred in musicals, movies of the week and television specials, and has hosted television shows and live events.
